rcTrunkTicketGenerationAlgorithm

Module: SWITCH-TRUNK-MIB

OID (symbolic): SWITCH-TRUNK-MIB::rcTrunkTicketGenerationAlgorithm

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.8886.6.1.6.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: There are two algorithm to generate trunk ticket: direct-map and crc. Direct-map uses the last two bits of mac address as the trunk ticket; Crc uses crc algorithm on all mac address to generate trunk ticket.

What is rcTrunkTicketGenerationAlgorithm?

This read-write value selects how the switch generates the internal trunk ticket used to pick an egress port within a trunk group, choosing between direct-map, which uses the last two bits of the MAC address, and crc, which runs a CRC algorithm over the full MAC address. It affects how evenly traffic distributes across trunk member ports depending on the MAC address distribution of the traffic. An admin noticing uneven trunk port utilization with direct-map, perhaps because many devices share similar low MAC bits, might switch this to crc(2) for better distribution.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.8886.6.1.6.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> SWITCH-TRUNK-MIB::rcTrunkTicketGenerationAlgorithm

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.8886.6.1.6.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> SWITCH-TRUNK-MIB::rcTrunkTicketGenerationAlgorithm.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.8886.6.1.6.4.1 i <value>
