Description: Manages Stratus Technologies fault-tolerant server hardware redundancy, module health, and failover status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is STRATUS-MIB?

STRATUS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Stratus Technologies, a maker of fault-tolerant, redundant server hardware, exposing system identity and hardware redundancy/health status for their servers. It covers general system information — manufacturer, model, system type, CPU family, OS type, and serial number — alongside overall system status reporting. It is directly aimed at hardware status monitoring: sraSiOverallSystemStatus reports the aggregate health of the fault-tolerant hardware, while sraSiCpuFamily and sraSiOsType/ftsmVarHostModelName give software/platform context, all central to confirming a Stratus system's redundant components are healthy and no unplanned failover has occurred. It is a self-contained agent MIB (sraAgentMibFamily/sraAgentMibRevision denote its own versioning) without strong dependence on external standard MIBs. It is deployed in mission-critical environments (finance, industrial control, telecom) running Stratus fault-tolerant servers where continuous hardware redundancy monitoring is essential. Engineers can download the STRATUS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in STRATUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Stratus Technologies fault-tolerant server

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll sraSiOverallSystemStatus to get the aggregate fault-tolerant health state of the server, and cross-reference sraSiSystemType, sraSiManufacturer, and sraSiModel to confirm the exact hardware platform being managed, alongside sraSiSystemSerialNumber and sraSiSiteID for asset tracking. If sraSiOverallSystemStatus shifts from a nominal value while ftsmVarHostModelName and sraSiCpuFamily remain unchanged, it would point to a redundant hardware module (e.g., a CPU or I/O board) having failed over or degraded rather than a full platform swap.

What Can Be Monitored

  • overall system health status
  • CPU family and OS type
  • system serial number and site ID
  • agent MIB revision
  • system manufacturer/model identity
