This read-write value sets which SyncE SSM option the switch operates under: option1(1) the PRC/SSU-A/SSU-B/SEC/DNU hierarchy, option2gen1(2), or option2gen2(3) the SONET-derived STU/ST2/ST3 hierarchies; an admin changes this to match the synchronization standard used by the rest of the timing network this switch is joining.
