heCommonSoftwareReset

Module: SCTE-HMS-HE-COMMON-MIB

OID (symbolic): SCTE-HMS-HE-COMMON-MIB::heCommonSoftwareReset

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5591.1.11.2.1.1.1.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object is used to reset software of the headend physical entity.

A SET request with the value reset(1) only shall reset the software application. The reset implementation is vendor specific.

A GET request shall always return the value reset(1) and shall have no effect on the entity.

What is heCommonSoftwareReset?

This read-write value, whose only defined setting is reset(1), triggers a software (application-level) reset of the headend physical entity when written; a GET request always simply returns reset(1) and has no effect. An admin uses it as a remote soft-reset control for the headend device's software, understanding that the actual reset behavior is vendor-specific. For example, an admin whose headend unit is misbehaving after a configuration change would SET this object to reset(1) to restart its software without needing physical access.
