What Is RS366-OPT-MIB?

RS366-OPT-MIB is a vendor-specific (Cisco/cdx6500-lineage) MIB for managing RS-366 auto-call dial interface configuration, a legacy serial signaling standard used to control automatic calling equipment such as modems over synchronous serial links. Its scope, based on the available object names, centers on port-protocol group configuration for the PCT and PST port types on cdx6500 hardware, i.e., configuration of dial-control parameters per port rather than broad device telemetry. Its monitoring value is limited to configuration/status of these legacy dial-control ports rather than general hardware sensors, useful mainly in verifying that auto-call signaling is correctly configured on a given serial port. As an RS-366-related MIB it depends on the underlying RS-366 electrical/signaling standard and the vendor's serial-interface MIB framework. A misconfigured protocol group value would explain why an RS-366 auto-call backup link fails to establish when the primary circuit goes down.
