All MIBs › RFC1285

Organization: IETF

Last Updated: 1992-03-01

Category: IETF Standards

Description: Defines FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) station and SMT management objects per RFC 1285.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RFC1285?

RFC1285 is the standard IETF stub MIB for RFC 1285 (FDDI MIB), defining FDDI-related textual conventions used by companion FDDI SMT (Station Management) MIBs. It carries no data objects of its own — as a textual-convention-definition MIB it exists so FDDI MIB modules can import and reuse its standardized conventions. It underlies network devices implementing FDDI SMT management per RFC 1285. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the RFC1285 RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RFC1285. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Network devices implementing FDDI SMT management (RFC 1285)

Monitoring Examples

A MIB compiler loads RFC1285 automatically when parsing a companion FDDI SMT MIB that imports its textual conventions.
