Description: Defines textual conventions for MEF Service OAM (SOAM) performance MIBs.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MEF-SOAM-TC-MIB?

MEF-SOAM-TC-MIB is the standard Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) MIB defining shared textual conventions used throughout the MEF Service OAM (SOAM, Ethernet fault/performance management) MIB family. It carries no data objects of its own — as a structural MIB it exists so other MEF SOAM MIBs (fault management, performance monitoring) can import consistent, reusable type definitions. It underlies carrier Ethernet equipment implementing MEF Service OAM. Engineers can download the MEF-SOAM-TC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MEF-SOAM-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Carrier Ethernet equipment (MEF Service OAM)

Monitoring Examples

A MIB browser loads MEF-SOAM-TC-MIB automatically when parsing another MEF SOAM MIB module, resolving the shared type definitions those modules' objects are declared with.
