dot3StatsInternalMacReceiveErrors
Module: RFC1284-MIB
OID (symbolic): RFC1284-MIB::dot3StatsInternalMacReceiveErrors
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.7.2.1.16
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Counter
Access: read-only
Description: A count of frames for which reception on a particular interface fails due to an internal MAC sublayer receive error. A frame is only counted by an instance of this object if it is not counted by the corresponding instance of either the dot3StatsFrameTooLongs object, the dot3StatsAlignmentErrors object, the dot3StatsFCSErrors object, the dot3StatsInRangeLengthErrors object, or the dot3StatsOutOfRangeLengthFields object.
The precise meaning of the count represented by an instance of this object is implementation- specific. In particular, an instance of this object may represent a count of receive errors on a particular interface that are not otherwise counted.
What is dot3StatsInternalMacReceiveErrors?
Counts receive failures on this interface caused by an internal MAC sublayer error not already captured by the frame-too-long, alignment, FCS, or length-field error counters. Since its meaning is implementation-specific, admins use a growing value here as a catch-all signal of unexplained receive-side hardware or driver trouble that needs vendor-specific diagnosis. For example, an interface whose receive FIFO overflows internally might increment this counter instead of any of the other, more specific ones.
