rptrPortSrcAddrForceTrunk

Module: REPEATER-MIB

OID (symbolic): REPEATER-MIB::rptrPortSrcAddrForceTrunk

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.3.5.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: When this object is set to Force it causes the port to be placed into a Trunk topological state whether the network traffic would warrant such a state or not. When this object is set to NoForce it allows the port to assume the topological state it would naturally assume based on the network activity acrossed it. When read this object reports the current setting.

What is rptrPortSrcAddrForceTrunk?

Setting this read-write object to force(2) manually places this port into the trunk topological state regardless of observed traffic; noForce(1) lets the port's state be determined naturally from traffic patterns; a read reports the current setting. Admins use force(2) on a known inter-switch link where the automatic trunk-detection heuristic hasn't (yet) kicked in, ensuring address-table and security behavior treats it correctly as a multi-device trunk from the start. Leaving this at noForce is the normal setting for genuine single-device access ports.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.3.5.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> REPEATER-MIB::rptrPortSrcAddrForceTrunk

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.3.5.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> REPEATER-MIB::rptrPortSrcAddrForceTrunk.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.3.5.1.4.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> rptrPortSrcAddrForceTrunk.1
