rptrAlarmsErrSource

Module: REPEATER-MIB

OID (symbolic): REPEATER-MIB::rptrAlarmsErrSource

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.1.3.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Get/Set a bit encoded map of which errors to include in the error sum, as follows:

CRC_errors - Bit 0 - Least Significant Bit runts - Bit 1 OOW_colls - Bit 2 align_errs - Bit 3 No_resource - Bit 4 Giants - Bit 5

What is rptrAlarmsErrSource?

This read-write integer is a bitmask selecting which error types (CRC errors, runts, out-of-window collisions, alignment errors, no-resource events, and giants, one bit each) are summed together for the purpose of triggering the error alarm on this segment. Admins customize it to focus the alarm on the error types that matter for their environment, for example excluding a chronic-but-harmless runt count so it doesn't mask a genuine CRC-error spike. Misconfiguring this bitmask (e.g., leaving out CRC errors) means the error alarm could silently miss the exact failure mode an admin most needs to know about.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.1.3.7
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> REPEATER-MIB::rptrAlarmsErrSource

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.1.3.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> REPEATER-MIB::rptrAlarmsErrSource.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.1.1.1.4.1.3.7.1 i <value>
