rbnAtmTransmitBuffers

Module: RBN-ATM-PROFILE-MIB

OID (symbolic): RBN-ATM-PROFILE-MIB::rbnAtmTransmitBuffers

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2352.2.2.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description: This object limits the total number of outbound transmit packet buffers that may be consumed by the circuit that references the profile.

Note well that this parameter should be used with caution. Improper setting can have severe consequences on overall system performance.

What is rbnAtmTransmitBuffers?

This caps the total number of outbound transmit packet buffers that a circuit using this profile is allowed to consume, guarding against one circuit monopolizing shared buffer resources. Administrators are cautioned in the MIB itself to use this setting carefully, since setting it too restrictively or too generously can noticeably affect overall system performance across all circuits sharing the device's buffer pool. Setting this object to a low value like 4 on a low-priority profile would limit how much buffering that circuit's traffic can consume, protecting buffer availability for other circuits.
