This is a human-readable name assigned to an ATM traffic profile entry, used instead of an arbitrary numeric index so administrators can reference profiles by meaningful names when configuring circuits elsewhere in the device. Administrators create these named profiles once and then reference the name across multiple circuit configurations, making configurations easier to read and maintain than if they had to remember numeric traffic-descriptor-parameter indexes. For example, naming a profile "VoiceCircuit-CBR" lets an admin assign that recognizable name to many ATM circuits carrying voice traffic rather than tracking a numeric ID for each.
