rbnAtmCellLossPriority

Module: RBN-ATM-PROFILE-MIB

OID (symbolic): RBN-ATM-PROFILE-MIB::rbnAtmCellLossPriority

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2352.2.2.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-create

Description: An indication as to whether circuits configured with this profile should enable the Cell Loss Priority (CLP) bit on transmitted cells. If the profile being used by a circuit has this object set to true(1), then all cells transmitted on that circuit will have the CLP bit set.

What is rbnAtmCellLossPriority?

This determines whether ATM circuits using this profile will have the Cell Loss Priority bit set on all their transmitted cells, marking them as eligible to be dropped first under network congestion. Administrators enable this on profiles for lower-priority or best-effort traffic so that during congestion, the network preferentially discards these cells before higher-priority traffic. Setting this object to true on a profile used for bulk background data transfers means those cells will be the first candidates for discard if the ATM network becomes congested.
