pwEnetStatsIllegalLength

Module: PW-ENET-STD-MIB

OID (symbolic): PW-ENET-STD-MIB::pwEnetStatsIllegalLength

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.180.1.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: ZeroBasedCounter32

Access: read-only

Description: The number of packets that were received with an illegal Ethernet packet length on this PW. An illegal length is defined as being greater than the value in the advertised MTU supported, or shorter than the allowed Ethernet packet size.

What is pwEnetStatsIllegalLength?

This counter tracks packets received on this pseudowire whose Ethernet frame length was illegal, meaning greater than the advertised MTU or shorter than the minimum allowed Ethernet frame size. An admin monitors this to detect malformed or oversized frames arriving from the PSN side of the pseudowire. For example, a steadily increasing pwEnetStatsIllegalLength count could indicate an MTU mismatch between PE routers terminating this PW.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.180.1.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PW-ENET-STD-MIB::pwEnetStatsIllegalLength

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.180.1.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PW-ENET-STD-MIB::pwEnetStatsIllegalLength.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> pwEnetStatsIllegalLength.1
