Category: Port Monitoring

Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication port mirroring monitor sessions, source port selection, and destination mirror port assignment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PRVT-MONITOR-SESSION-MIB?

PRVT-MONITOR-SESSION-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communication proprietary MIB implementing SPAN (Switched Port Analyzer, port-mirroring) on BATM/Telco Systems carrier Ethernet switches. Its monitor-session table records the mirroring direction and source/destination ports, while a related VLAN-tag table configures whether mirrored traffic is VLAN-tagged and with which VLAN ID/EtherType. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm a SPAN session's source and destination ports are correctly configured before relying on it for traffic capture/analysis. It is deployed on BATM/Telco Systems carrier Ethernet switches. Engineers can download the PRVT-MONITOR-SESSION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-MONITOR-SESSION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BATM/Telco Systems carrier Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks prvtMonitorSessionSource and prvtMonitorSessionDestination to confirm a SPAN session is mirroring the intended port to the analyzer port before starting a packet capture.
