netConfigMaximumFrameSize

Module: PROBE-MIB

OID (symbolic): PROBE-MIB::netConfigMaximumFrameSize

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.4.6.1.1.20

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The size of the buffer to be allocated at the physical layer for the reception of a frame from the network. Any frames which are longer than the maximum frame size will be reported as a errored frame. The number of buffers available to receive frames is (POOL SIZE / maximum frame size). Overallocation of this maximum frame size decreases the number of available buffers which could result in dropped frames during periods of heavy network utilization.

The minimum accepted value is 1024. The maximum accepted value is 65535.

What is netConfigMaximumFrameSize?

Sets the buffer size, in bytes, allocated per incoming frame at the physical layer (default 8192, valid range 1024-65535); oversizing this reduces the number of available receive buffers and can cause dropped frames under heavy load, while undersizing it causes legitimately large frames to be counted as errored.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.4.6.1.1.20
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PROBE-MIB::netConfigMaximumFrameSize

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.4.6.1.1.20.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PROBE-MIB::netConfigMaximumFrameSize.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.4.6.1.1.20.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> netConfigMaximumFrameSize.1
