This read-only counter tracks the number of times the receiver on a Token-Ring LAN interface has overrun, applicable only to Token-Ring interfaces. An admin monitors it to detect Token-Ring receive-buffer congestion, where incoming frames arrive faster than the interface can process them. A rising statIflanTrReceiveCongestion count on a Presticom Token-Ring port would prompt an admin to check for excessive ring traffic or a slow receiving station.
