What is pimStarGEntries?

This gauge reports the current count of entries in the PIM (*,G) group table, where each entry represents one multicast group (G) that PIM has learned about on all interfaces via the (*,G) shared tree model. The (*,G) notation means all sources sending to that group address; this count reflects the diversity of multicast groups active on the network. Operators monitor this metric to track multicast deployment scale and detect unusual spikes that might indicate misconfiguration or attacks.
