pdnSyslogMsgToConsole
Module: PDN-SYSLOG-MIB
OID (symbolic): PDN-SYSLOG-MIB::pdnSyslogMsgToConsole
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.31.1.11
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: This allows messages to be sent to the device's console port. Note this is intended for debug use only! It is not recommended to be used to monitor syslog message on a regular bases. If one needs to constantly monitor the syslog messages, then they should use the remote syslog daemon, or other user interfaces.
What is pdnSyslogMsgToConsole?
This read-write value enables(2) or disables(1) sending syslog messages to the device's console port, and the MIB explicitly notes this is intended for debug use only and should not be used for regular ongoing monitoring. Admins temporarily enable it while actively troubleshooting a device via a console session, then disable it again afterward, using the remote syslog daemon for ongoing monitoring instead. For example, a technician connected via console cable during a live troubleshooting session would enable this temporarily to see log messages scroll in real time, then disable it once done.
