mpePdnDot1dTpAgeingTime

Module: PDN-MPE-BRIDGE-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-MPE-BRIDGE-MIB::mpePdnDot1dTpAgeingTime

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.12.21.1.1.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The timeout period in seconds for aging out dynamically learned forwarding information. 802.1D-1990 recommends a default of 300 seconds.

What is mpePdnDot1dTpAgeingTime?

This read-write integer, from 10 to 1000000 seconds and defaulting to 300 per the 802.1D-1990 recommendation, sets the timeout period for aging out dynamically learned forwarding database entries. Admins tune this to control how quickly the switch forgets inactive MAC addresses, balancing table freshness against unnecessary relearning. For example, lowering it below the default of 300 makes the switch age out idle MAC entries faster, which can help in highly mobile network environments.
