pdnDot1qVlanStaticOuterEthertype

Module: PDN-DOT1QEXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-DOT1QEXT-MIB::pdnDot1qVlanStaticOuterEthertype

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.39.1.1.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: When VLAN stacking (Q in Q) is desired, this object contains the value of the ethertype in the 802.1q VLAN outer tag.

If pdnDot1qVlanStaticOuterTag (above) is zero (0) this object is ignored.

What is pdnDot1qVlanStaticOuterEthertype?

This read-write value, from 0 to 65535 and defaulting to 33024 (0x8100), sets the Ethertype used in the outer 802.1q VLAN tag when VLAN stacking is enabled, and is ignored entirely if pdnDot1qVlanStaticOuterTag is zero. An admin sets it to match the Ethertype expected by the upstream provider network's QinQ implementation, since interoperability depends on agreement on this value. For example, an admin interconnecting with a provider network using a nonstandard outer Ethertype would change this from the default 0x8100 to that provider's required value.
