pdnDot1qVlanStaticDefaultNHR

Module: PDN-DOT1QEXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-DOT1QEXT-MIB::pdnDot1qVlanStaticDefaultNHR

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.39.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: IpAddress

Access: read-write

Description: This object is used to configure Default Next Hop Router Ip Address that would be used only if the Next Hop Router cannot be learned (i.e from snooping messages). This object is not valid unless pdnDot1qVlanStaticSecureModeStatus is set to ENABLED. If pdnDot1qVlanStaticSecureModeStatus is disabled this object will read 0.0.0.0 address.

What is pdnDot1qVlanStaticDefaultNHR?

This read-write value configures a default Next Hop Router IP address to be used only if the actual next-hop router cannot be learned via snooping, valid only when pdnDot1qVlanStaticSecureModeStatus is enabled, and reading as 0.0.0.0 when secure mode is disabled. An admin sets it as a fallback gateway for a secure VLAN's traffic in case the device's normal router-discovery mechanism fails to learn the actual next hop. For example, an admin on a secure VLAN whose router-snooping occasionally misses the gateway would configure this default NHR address to ensure traffic still has a fallback path out.
