devNTPMode

Module: PDN-DEVICE-TIME-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-DEVICE-TIME-MIB::devNTPMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.20.1.2.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: NTPMode

Access: read-write

Description: This Objects allows an NMS to configure the mode NTP will operate in Unicast mode -- In this mode NTP will poll a specific server. In this mode it is necessary for a NTP server to be configured using the NTPServerIP object Broadcast Mode -- In this mode NTP will broadcast a request and any NTP server could respond Default value is Broadcast

What is devNTPMode?

This configures how the device obtains time from NTP: in unicast mode it polls a single specific server configured via devNTPServerIP, while in broadcast mode it listens for and accepts time announcements from any NTP server broadcasting on the network. Administrators choose unicast when they want tight control over which time source is trusted, and broadcast when any local NTP server is acceptable and simpler configuration is preferred. By default the device uses broadcast mode, so an admin who wants to lock synchronization to a specific corporate time server would need to switch this to unicast and set devNTPServerIP accordingly.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.20.1.2.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PDN-DEVICE-TIME-MIB::devNTPMode

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.20.1.2.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PDN-DEVICE-TIME-MIB::devNTPMode.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.20.1.2.2.1 s <value>
