pdnCpIwfIpActiveSoftswitch

Module: PDN-CPIWF-IP-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-CPIWF-IP-MIB::pdnCpIwfIpActiveSoftswitch

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.53.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This object displays the active selection for the Softswitch (Call Agent, Proxy Agent, etc.) for this IAD entry.

If the SNMP agent can not determine an active softswitch for this IAD entry, the value of this object will be set to 'none (3)'.

This object is related to the pdnPotsPortActiveSoftswitch object for those pots port's instances terminating in this IAD. That is, if at least one pots port terminating in this IAD losses communication with its Softswitch (call agent, proxy server, etc.), the value of the current object is also set to 'none (3)'.

What is pdnCpIwfIpActiveSoftswitch?

Which configured softswitch (call agent/proxy) is currently active for this IAD entry: primary(1), secondary(2), or none(3) if the agent can't determine one — it also flips to none(3) if any POTS port terminating on this IAD loses contact with its softswitch.

Start monitoring Paradyne CPIWF (Control Plane Interworking Function) IP gateways with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the PDN-CPIWF-IP-MIB::pdnCpIwfIpActiveSoftswitch OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Paradyne CPIWF (Control Plane Interworking Function) IP gateways from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a Paradyne CPIWF (Control Plane Interworking Function) IP gateway as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type pdnCpIwfIpActiveSoftswitch into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. This object displays the active selection for the Softswitch (Call Agent, Proxy Agent, etc.) for this IAD entry. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is 'none', or it changes unexpectedly between 'primary' and 'secondary', since which softswitch is active depends on your failover state and an unplanned change often indicates the primary went down. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
