Module: PDN-BRIDGE-MIB
OID (symbolic): PDN-BRIDGE-MIB::pdnDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.21.1.1.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Counter
Access: read-only
Description: The total number of Forwarding Database entries, which have been or would have been learned, but have been discarded due to a lack of space to store them in the Forwarding Database. If this counter is increasing, it indicates that the Forwarding Database is regularly becoming full (a condition which has unpleasant performance effects on the subnetwork). If this counter has a significant value but is not presently increasing, it indicates that the problem has been occurring but is not persistent.
What is pdnDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards?
pdnDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards is a read-only Counter tallying forwarding-database entries that were or would have been learned but were discarded due to lack of space in the Forwarding Database. Admins monitor this because an increasing value indicates the FDB is regularly filling up, a condition the MIB itself flags as having unpleasant performance effects on the subnetwork; a nonzero but static value suggests a past, non-persistent problem. For example, a steadily climbing pdnDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards count would prompt an admin to investigate whether the switch's MAC table capacity is being exceeded, perhaps due to a MAC-flooding attack or an oversized flat network.
