Module: ONS15501-MIB

OID (symbolic): ONS15501-MIB::ons15501OutputSignalPower

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1869.11.11.2.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Ons15501TenthdB

Access: read-only

Description: The optical signal power at the output of the Amplifier.
 The value of this attribute triggers the alarm, based on
 mean value and trigger as defined by
 ons15501OutputSignalPowerMean and
 ons15501OutputSignalPowerTrigger.

 This value is internally calculated using the following
 formula.
  ons15501OutputSignalPower = ons15501OpticalPowerGain +
                                 ons15501InputOpticalPower
 At very low ons15501InputOpticalPower (below -16 dBm),
 the ons15501OutputSignalPower has significant difference
 from ons15501OutputOpticalPower while at higher input
 power (ons15501InputOpticalPower) they are closer.

 Following graph captures the difference (for a 17 dBm
 EDFA)
    (dashes '-'/'_' denote optical output power
     while dots '.' denote signal output power)

What is ons15501OutputSignalPower?

This OID reports the calculated output signal power, in tenths of a dBm, computed as optical power gain plus input optical power; it diverges noticeably from the raw output optical power reading at very low input levels (below about -16 dBm). An admin uses this calculated value, rather than the raw output reading, as the basis for the output-power alarm comparison against the configured mean and trigger.
