lanBlazer7000PortGroupBinding

Module: ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB

OID (symbolic): ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB::lanBlazer7000PortGroupBinding

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.50.8.1.2.1.3.6.1.1.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: ResourceId

Access: read-only

Description: Each port is associated with a port group. Typically, a port will belong to a port group of one and the value of this object will be the same as the port index for this instance. That is, this port will point to itself.

The intent of this object is to help manage ports that have hierarchical relationships. For example, an ATM port typically has a physical port and multiple logical ports (e.g. each logical port corresponding to an instance of an emulated LAN). In this case, each LANE instance would refer to the instance of the physical port associated with the ATM front-end.

Another example is an FDDI DAS type port. In this case, there is a logical port associated with the FDDI switch port which is connected to the two FDDI physical port connectors. The physical FDDI ports both point to the logical instance of an FDDI port.

What is lanBlazer7000PortGroupBinding?

Points this port to the resource ID of its parent port group; an ordinary standalone port simply points to itself, while a port that is part of a hierarchical structure — such as an FDDI DAS port's two physical connectors, or an ATM port's multiple LANE logical sub-ports — points to the shared logical/physical port it belongs to. Management tools use this binding to correctly roll up statistics or status from physical sub-ports to their parent logical port.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.50.8.1.2.1.3.6.1.1.1.10
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB::lanBlazer7000PortGroupBinding

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.50.8.1.2.1.3.6.1.1.1.10.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB::lanBlazer7000PortGroupBinding.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> lanBlazer7000PortGroupBinding.1
