lanBlazer7000BufferPriorityServicing

Module: ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB

OID (symbolic): ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB::lanBlazer7000BufferPriorityServicing

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.50.8.1.2.1.3.7.1.1.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The value of this object configures how often the normal priority queue is serviced relative to the high priority queue. By default, the normal priority queue is serviced every thousand frames(3). This means that the normal priority queue is guaranteed to be serviced after servicing, at most, one thousand high priority frames.

It is important to service the normal priority queue for two reasons. One is to prevent starvation for frames on the normal priority queue. The other reason is that frames cannot be aged if they are not serviced (see the age timer).

What is lanBlazer7000BufferPriorityServicing?

Configures how often the normal-priority queue is serviced relative to the high-priority queue in this buffer, from strictPriority(1) (high priority always first) up to everyTenThousand(2) frames; the factory default, everyThousand(3), guarantees the normal queue is serviced at least once per 1,000 high-priority frames. Admins tune this to prevent starvation of normal-priority traffic (and to let aged frames actually be cleaned up) on buffers carrying a heavy mix of prioritized and best-effort traffic.
