Module: ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB

OID (symbolic): ODSLANBlazer7000-MIB::lanBlazer7000BufferAgeTimer

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.50.8.1.2.1.3.7.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Configures the timer used for aging frames in this buffer. If the timer expires for a frame, the frame is dropped and the event is counted in the stale drop counter. By default, the age timer is set to a 0.25 seconds (quarter of a second).

The actual time that a frame may be aged out may vary. When set to a quarter of a second (250ms), the actual time may vary between 160ms and 320ms. When set to a second (1000ms), the time may vary between 640ms and 1.28 seconds (1028ms).

What is lanBlazer7000BufferAgeTimer?

Sets how long a frame may sit in this buffer before it is aged out and dropped (counted in the stale-drop counters): disable(1) turns aging off, quarter-second(2) is the factory default (actual range ~160-320ms), and one-second(3) allows frames to wait longer (~640ms-1.28s) before being discarded. An admin might lengthen this to one-second(3) on a buffer serving a bursty, latency-tolerant application to reduce stale-frame drops, at the cost of slightly higher worst-case latency.
