Module: OCCAM-ENTITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): OCCAM-ENTITY-MIB::entityFirmwareRev

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6066.2.1.3.1.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: SnmpAdminString

Access: read-only

Description: The vendor-specific firmware revision string for the physical entity.

Note that if revision information is stored internally in a non-printable (e.g., binary) format, then the agent must convert such information to a printable format, in an implementation- specific manner.

If no specific firmware programs are associated with the physical component, or this information is unknown to the agent, then this object will contain a zero-length string.

What is entityFirmwareRev?

This object reports the vendor-specific firmware revision string running on the physical entity, or a zero-length string if no firmware programs are associated with that component or the version is unknown to the agent. An admin checks this when troubleshooting boot or low-level device behavior, since it reflects the firmware layer independent of the higher-level software revision. For example, a value of '1.2.3' lets the admin confirm the board's boot firmware matches what a known issue was fixed in.
