What Is Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-CallServerMIB?

This MIB defines call server functions for voice and data call routing on the Nortel MSC Passport mobile carrier switch, including numbering-plan-based routing configuration. It exposes mscCRNpiRowStatusTable, which manages Numbering Plan Indicator (NPI) routing entries used by the call server to route calls by number type. Its monitoring value is primarily in confirming call-routing configuration health - whether NPI entries and the parent call-routing component are correctly provisioned and in service - since a misconfigured entry silently blocks matching call traffic. It depends on ITU-T numbering-plan (E.164/NPI) conventions and telephony signaling concepts, layered on the shared Passport component/RowStatus model. It is deployed on MSC Passport switches performing call-server functions in mobile or carrier voice networks. Engineers can download the Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-CallServerMIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-CallServerMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel MSC Passport mobile carrier switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks mscCRNpiRowStatusTable/mscCRNpiRowStatusEntry to confirm a Numbering Plan Indicator routing entry (mscCRNpiComponentName) is active and correctly provisioned for call routing. mscCRRowStatusTable governs the lifecycle of the parent call-routing component. An NPI entry left in a notInService or notReady row status would prevent calls matching that numbering plan from being routed correctly by the call server.

What Can Be Monitored

  • call routing component status
  • numbering plan indicator (NPI) provisioning
  • component row status
  • storage type
