What Is NSNICMIB-MIB?
NSNICMIB-MIB (documented internally as the 'HP NSA NIC MIB') is an HP vendor-specific MIB, registered under hp.nm.hpnsa (1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.23), that was written for HP's Network Server Advisor agent to manage network interface cards in HP NetServer systems — a narrower, HP-specific scope than a generic cross-vendor NIC driver framework. Its nicDrvConfigTable reports low-level driver configuration per adapter (I/O ports, interrupts, DMA channels, memory ranges, speed, promiscuous/multicast mode), nicStatisticsTable and nicErrors track basic TX/RX packet and error counts, and dedicated nicTokenRingStatisticsTable/nicTokenRingErrorsTable plus per-chipset parameter groups (nicStarfighterParms, nicTwisterParms, nicMasterParms, nicShastaParms — internal HP codenames for specific NIC ASIC families) provide adapter-specific detail. This granular, adapter-family-aware structure makes it useful for diagnosing NIC-level problems (ring errors, burst errors, token errors on Token Ring adapters, or overflow/misc errors on Ethernet adapters) that wouldn't be visible through the standard IF-MIB alone. It depends on legacy RFC1155-SMI/RFC1213-MIB imports for its 1994-97-era SMIv1 syntax. It is deployed on HP NetServer systems of that generation, and an administrator restoring an old NetServer to management would do an NSNICMIB-MIB download to load the legacy module into a MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An operator polls nicRxOverflow and nicRxCRC counters in nicStatisticsTable for a given NIC index; rapidly increasing CRC or overflow counts on one adapter, while other NICs in the same server stay flat, would point to a failing or overloaded network card rather than a network-wide problem.
