What is commonBackoffMaximumExponent?
The maximum backoff window exponent (0-15) used by the MAC-layer contention algorithm, defaulting to 15, and required to stay greater than or equal to the minimum exponent, stored in non-volatile memory, per the MIB's own description. Admins tune this alongside the minimum exponent to control how far the upstream contention window can grow under heavy congestion.
