What Is NORTEL-NMI-GROUPS-MIB?
NORTEL-NMI-GROUPS-MIB is a Nortel enterprise MIB that defines the OBJECT-GROUP and NOTIFICATION-GROUP conformance declarations used across the Nortel Network Management Interface (NMI) family of MIB modules. It is a pure conformance/grouping module: it bundles related objects and notifications from other NMI MIBs into named groups for AGENT-CAPABILITIES and MODULE-COMPLIANCE statements, rather than defining any monitorable data itself. It therefore has no direct role in exposing hardware or software status such as uptime, temperature, or CPU load - its function is purely to describe which objects an NMI-compliant agent must implement. It depends entirely on the object and notification definitions found in the other Nortel NMI MIB modules it groups together. It is used during MIB compilation and compliance verification for Nortel devices implementing the NMI framework, not for live polling, with the NORTEL-NMI-GROUPS-MIB reference serving mainly to confirm which object and notification groups an NMI-compliant agent must support.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NORTEL-NMI-GROUPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nortel Networks equipment using the NMI framework
Monitoring Examples
This module is a conformance/grouping MIB with no runtime data objects of its own - it only defines OBJECT-GROUP and NOTIFICATION-GROUP clauses referencing objects from other NMI MIBs. There is nothing here for a monitoring station to poll or trend over time. Its practical use is limited to verifying agent conformance during MIB loading, not day-to-day device monitoring.
