Description: BPDU guard can operate in all spanning tree modes, but the feature operates with some differences. In SSTP and PVST modes, if a Port Fast-enabled port receives a BPDU,it will be shutdown. In RSTP and MSTP modes, if a port receives a BPDU, it will be blocked for double forward time. In all spanning tree modes, a BPDU guard-enabled port will not send BPDUs.
What is stpPortOptfBpduGuard?
This object is a read-write per-port INTEGER (no/enabled/disabled) that turns on BPDU Guard for a specific interface, shutting the port down (SSTP/PVST) or blocking it for double forward time (RSTP/MSTP) if it receives a BPDU while Port Fast-enabled, and preventing the port itself from sending BPDUs. Administrators apply it per-port, indexed by ifIndex, to protect individual access ports from rogue switches without affecting trunk or uplink ports. For example, setting stpPortOptfBpduGuard to enabled(1) on a conference-room jack disables that port automatically if a visitor plugs in an unauthorized switch.
