Description: Configures link-layer protocol filtering rules on Netgear switch ports to control forwarding of protocol frames.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NETGEAR-LLPF-PRIVATE-MIB?
NETGEAR-LLPF-PRIVATE-MIB is a Netgear proprietary MIB configuring Link Local Protocol Filtering (LLPF), a feature blocking specific Layer 2 control-plane protocols on a per-port basis. Its port-configuration table, keyed by port, records which protocol type is being filtered and whether that protocol's frames are blocked on that port. As a configuration/security MIB it lets an administrator confirm which link-local protocols are being filtered on a given port, useful for isolating guest or untrusted ports from control-plane protocol traffic. It is deployed on Netgear managed switches (built on the QUANTA-LB6M reference platform). Engineers can download the NETGEAR-LLPF-PRIVATE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETGEAR-LLPF-PRIVATE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Netgear managed switches (QUANTA-LB6M-based)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks agentSwitchLlpfPortBlockMode for a guest-network port to confirm LLDP or spanning-tree BPDUs are being filtered as intended to isolate that segment from the core network's control plane.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port Link Local Protocol Filtering configuration
