What Is NETBOTZ-DEVICE-MIB?
NETBOTZ-DEVICE-MIB is a vendor MIB for NetBotz (now part of APC/Schneider Electric) environmental monitoring appliances, covering the device's own network and notification configuration such as hostname, domain, IP/netmask/gateway, DNS servers, SMTP/POP mail server and ports, and logging level. Rather than exposing sensor readings directly, this particular module focuses on the appliance's management-plane setup needed to deliver environmental alerts (e.g., email notifications) reliably. Its monitoring relevance is largely indirect: verifying correct netBotz-dev-ip, netBotz-dev-gateway, and netBotz-dev-smtp settings ensures the environmental sensor alerts (temperature, humidity, airflow, etc. exposed elsewhere in the NetBotz MIB family) actually reach administrators. It is closely tied to companion NetBotz MIBs that expose the actual sensor data and alarm objects. It is deployed on NetBotz environmental monitoring appliances placed in data center and equipment room racks. Engineers can download the NETBOTZ-DEVICE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETBOTZ-DEVICE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- device IP/netmask/gateway configuration
- DNS server settings
- SMTP/POP mail server configuration
- logging level
Supported Devices
- NetBotz/APC environmental monitoring appliance
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check netBotz-dev-ip, netBotz-dev-netmask, and netBotz-dev-gateway to confirm the appliance's management network configuration is correct and it remains reachable for polling. Verifying netBotz-dev-smtp and netBotz-dev-smtpport ensures the device can actually send out email alerts when an environmental threshold (managed by a companion NetBotz MIB) is breached. The netBotz-dev-loglevel object would be adjusted to increase logging detail when diagnosing why expected notifications aren't arriving.
