Category: Bridging
Description: Provides MICOM proprietary extensions to standard bridging MIB objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MICOMBRGEXT?
This is a MICOM Communications vendor MIB module providing proprietary extensions to standard bridging MIB objects, adding MICOM-specific bridge behavior configuration and monitoring on top of the base bridge model. It exposes bridge-wide settings such as IP-bridging mode, number of bridged interfaces, spanning tree and IP address spoofing enable flags, MAC address aging time, debug flags, and a per-port configuration table, plus spoof cache aging/threshold parameters and bridge counters. Its monitoring value includes both configuration state (spanning tree/spoofing enabled, aging time) and operational counters (mcmBrgCntr) that reveal bridge traffic/error activity, useful for diagnosing bridging loops, excessive MAC aging churn, or misbehaving spoof-detection thresholds. As its name indicates, it is explicitly built as a MICOM extension to the standard Bridge MIB (RFC 1493 / BRIDGE-MIB), adding proprietary objects alongside that standard model. It would be deployed on MICOM bridging-capable WAN/LAN access equipment where standard bridge MIB data is supplemented with MICOM-specific spoofing and debug controls. Engineers can download the MICOMBRGEXT file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MICOMBRGEXT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- MICOM bridging-capable WAN/LAN access equipment
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll mcmBrgNumInterfaces and mcmBrgSpanEnable to confirm how many interfaces are bridged and whether spanning tree is active, helping diagnose an unexpected bridging loop. mcmBrgSpoofEnable together with mcmBrgSpoofCacheAge and mcmBrgSpoofThresholdAge/ThresholdCount would be checked when tuning or troubleshooting the device's anti-spoofing cache behavior. mcmBrgConfPortTable indexed by mcmBrgConfPortIndex lets an admin review per-port bridge configuration, while mcmBrgCntr provides bridge-wide traffic/error counters and mcmBrgAgeTime confirms the configured MAC address aging interval.
What Can Be Monitored
- bridged interface count
- spanning tree enable state
- IP spoofing detection settings
- MAC address aging time
- bridge port configuration
- bridge counters

RFC description
Extended bridge MIB for Micom access devices providing port configuration, spanning tree, and Ethernet filtering management.
Start monitoring MICOM bridging-capable WAN/LAN access equipment (bridge extension) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
