This notification variable carries the severity level that OpenManage Essentials originally assigned to the alert, such as critical, warning, or informational, letting the admin triage incoming alerts by urgency. An admin uses this to prioritize which alerts need immediate attention versus which can be reviewed later. For example, omeAlertSeverity carrying the value 'Critical' tells the admin this alert demands immediate investigation, unlike a lower-severity informational alert.
