This read-only text field reports a general status message from the Network Storage Module (NSM) SNMP agent running on an HP LeftHand Networks storage appliance, though the MIB's own description is quite terse about the specific content or format expected. An administrator monitoring the storage appliance would check this for a human-readable summary of the SNMP subsystem's current state when troubleshooting monitoring issues on the device. For example, this field might contain a value such as "OK" during normal operation, or a brief error description if the monitoring subsystem has detected a problem with itself.
