lpsSystemProtocolMask

Module: LANPLEX-SYSTEMS-MIB-1-2-2

OID (symbolic): LANPLEX-SYSTEMS-MIB-1-2-2::lpsSystemProtocolMask

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.114.1.4.1.17

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This object is a bit mask that indicates which protocols exist in the software image currently loaded in memory. The value of this OBJECT is a sum. It initially takes on the value 0, then for each protocol bit as defined below, 2 raised to the value of the (bit position - 1) is added to the sum.

The following bits are defined:

IP_ROUTING 0x00000001 IPX_ROUTING 0x00000002 DDP_ROUTING 0x00000004

A value of 0x00000000 indicates the standard switching software.

What is lpsSystemProtocolMask?

A bitmask reporting which routing protocols are present in the currently loaded software image, built by summing 2^(bit-1) for each supported protocol such as IP routing (bit 1), IPX routing (bit 2), or DDP routing (bit 3); a value of 0 means the plain switching image with no routing. An admin reads this to confirm a given chassis is actually running a routing-capable image before trying to configure IP or IPX routing on it.
