Description: Juniper Networks MIB for monitoring RADIUS proxy server operations and request forwarding on Juniper E-series platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-RADIUS-Proxy-MIB?

Juniper-RADIUS-Proxy-MIB is a Juniper Networks enterprise MIB for configuring the RADIUS proxy function on JUNOSe E-series routers, where the router relays authentication and accounting RADIUS traffic between NAS clients and back-end AAA servers. It exposes proxy UDP port configuration, separate client tables for authentication and accounting proxying (address, mask, shared key, row status), and UDP checksum handling. Its monitoring role is largely software/service-availability verification: confirming a client subnet's proxy entry is active and correctly keyed helps diagnose why RADIUS requests from a given client are being silently dropped or rejected, a configuration/software issue rather than a hardware fault. It works alongside standard RADIUS MIBs and Juniper's other RADIUS-related enterprise MIBs on the same platform. It is typically deployed on broadband/edge access routers acting as a RADIUS proxy between subscriber-facing clients and centralized AAA infrastructure. Engineers can download the Juniper-RADIUS-Proxy-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-RADIUS-Proxy-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series router (JUNOSe broadband/edge access platform)

Monitoring Examples

An operator can inspect juniRadiusAuthProxyCfgClientTable entries (juniRadiusAuthProxyCfgClientAddress, juniRadiusAuthProxyCfgClientMask, juniRadiusAuthProxyCfgRowStatus) to confirm a client subnet is active for auth proxying on juniRadiusAuthProxyCfgPortNumber, and check juniRadiusAcctProxyCfgClientTable and juniRadiusAcctProxyCfgPortNumber similarly for accounting proxy reachability. An inactive row status or mismatched proxy key would explain silently dropped RADIUS traffic from that client.

What Can Be Monitored

  • auth/accounting proxy port numbers
  • configured proxy client addresses/masks
  • proxy client row status
  • shared key configuration
  • UDP checksum handling
