juniPppPeerIpAddressOptional

Module: Juniper-PPP-MIB

OID (symbolic): Juniper-PPP-MIB::juniPppPeerIpAddressOptional

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.11.1.9.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: JuniEnable

Access: read-write

Description: This option is used to ignore the conflicts between ppp clients requested IP address and radius/local pool returned address in server during IPNCP negotiation. Enabling this will ensure the IPNCP negotiation to succeed even though the client does not include IP address option in the IPNCP configure request.

What is juniPppPeerIpAddressOptional?

When enabled, this lets IPCP negotiation succeed even if the client's IPCP configure-request omits an IP address option, ignoring a conflict between the client's requested address and the address actually returned by RADIUS or a local address pool. Admins enable it for client software that doesn't propose its own address and instead expects the server to simply assign one. For example, enabling this fixes IPCP negotiation failures against thin PPP clients that send a bare configure-request with no address option.
