Description: When enabled, LCP state machine is forced into passive mode on lower layer UP message. It adds compatibility with slow and buggy clients.

What is juniPppLinkConfigPassiveMode?

When enabled, this forces the LCP state machine into passive mode as soon as the lower layer comes up, meaning the router waits for the peer to initiate LCP instead of sending the first packet itself. Admins turn this on for compatibility with slow or buggy client devices that aren't ready to negotiate immediately. For example, enabling passive mode on a link to an older DSL modem can eliminate negotiation timeouts seen right after the modem powers on.
