Description: The number of authentication retries permitted, in addition to a failed initial attempt. If all retries fail, the link is reset.

If authentication negotiation is not supported for this PPP interface, then any attempt to explicitely set this object will result in a notWritable error and it will be implicitily set to the DEFVAL on row creation.

What is juniPppLinkConfigMaxAuthenRetries?

This sets how many additional authentication attempts are allowed after an initial failure before the link is reset. Admins raise it slightly to tolerate transient credential-exchange glitches, or keep it low to fail fast on brute-force or misconfigured clients. For example, setting this to 2 lets a client retry authentication twice more before the router gives up and resets the link.
