jnxLdpTransitOctets

Module: JUNIPER-LDP-MIB

OID (symbolic): JUNIPER-LDP-MIB::jnxLdpTransitOctets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.14.2.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter64

Access: read-only

Description: The number of octets of traffic destined to this FEC, originated on a different box, forwarded over the current LDP FEC. The number reported is not realtime and may be subject to several minutes delay. The delay is controllable by ldp statistics gathering interval, which by default is 5 minutes.

What is jnxLdpTransitOctets?

This read-only counter reports the number of octets of transit traffic, originated on a different router but forwarded through this box, over the current LDP FEC. Admins use it to distinguish traffic this router is merely forwarding through the LSP from traffic it originated itself, jnxLdpIngressOctets, useful for capacity planning on transit routers in the LSP path. A jnxLdpTransitOctets value far larger than jnxLdpIngressOctets for the same FEC would tell the admin this router is mostly acting as a mid-path transit hop for that LSP rather than a traffic source.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.14.2.1.8
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> JUNIPER-LDP-MIB::jnxLdpTransitOctets

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.14.2.1.8.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> JUNIPER-LDP-MIB::jnxLdpTransitOctets.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> jnxLdpTransitOctets.1
