ipv6UdpIfIndex

Module: IPV6-UDP-MIB

OID (symbolic): IPV6-UDP-MIB::ipv6UdpIfIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.7.6.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Ipv6IfIndexOrZero

Access: read-only

Description: An index object used to disambiguate conceptual rows in the table, since the ipv6UdpLocalAddress/ipv6UdpLocalPort pair may not be unique.

This object identifies the local interface that is associated with ipv6UdpLocalAddress for this UDP listener. If such a local interface cannot be determined, this object should take on the value 0. (A possible example of this would be if the value of ipv6UdpLocalAddress is ::0.)

The interface identified by a particular non-0 value of this index is the same interface as identified by the same value of ipv6IfIndex.

The value of this object must remain constant during

the life of this UDP endpoint.

This object is obsoleted by the zone identifier in an InetAddressIPv6z address in UDP-MIB::udpEndpointLocalAddress.

What is ipv6UdpIfIndex?

This object identifies which local network interface a UDP listener is bound to, existing mainly to disambiguate rows in the UDP table when the same local address and port pair could otherwise appear more than once; the MIB marks it obsolete. A value of zero means the listening interface couldn't be determined, while any other value points to a specific interface in the standard interfaces table. A UDP service bound specifically to an IPv6 loopback interface with ifIndex 1 would report ipv6UdpIfIndex as 1 rather than 0.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.7.6.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IPV6-UDP-MIB::ipv6UdpIfIndex

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.7.6.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IPV6-UDP-MIB::ipv6UdpIfIndex.1
