Module: IPFRR-MIB

OID (symbolic): IPFRR-MIB::ipFrrUnprotectedRoutes

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.999.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Access: read-only

Description: The number of valid routes known by this entity which do not have an alternate next-hop associated with any primary next-hop.

What is ipFrrUnprotectedRoutes?

Reports the number of valid routes on this router that have no alternate next-hop associated with any of their primary next-hops. Admins watch this count to gauge network resilience - these are the routes that would black-hole traffic (until normal reconvergence) if their primary next-hop failed, since IP FRR has no precomputed backup for them. A sudden increase in ipFrrUnprotectedRoutes after a topology change would prompt an admin to check whether a link failure removed the loop-free alternates that used to protect those routes.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IPFRR-MIB::ipFrrUnprotectedRoutes

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.999.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IPFRR-MIB::ipFrrUnprotectedRoutes.1
