Description: This attribute provides the maximum delay independent from frame length for a frame to forward from ingress port to egress port.
The delay begins when the message timestamp point of the ingress frame passes the reference plane marking the boundary between the network media and PHY. The delay ends when the message timestamp point of the egress frame passes the reference plane marking the boundary between the network media and PHY. The message timestamp point is specified by IEEE Std 802.1AS for various media, near the start of the frame.
What is ieee8021TsnRemoteMgmtIndependentDelayMax?
This read-only value reports the maximum frame-length-independent forwarding delay for this bridge port, from ingress timestamp point to egress timestamp point. TSN network engineers use it alongside the minimum value to bound worst-case fixed forwarding latency when computing guaranteed delivery schedules for time-critical streams. For example, if ieee8021TsnRemoteMgmtIndependentDelayMax reads 2 microseconds, the CNC must assume any frame could take up to that long to traverse the port regardless of its size, when reserving bandwidth for a scheduled stream.
