This boolean status object indicates whether a default Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) Maintenance Domain entry is active or has been overridden by a more specific Maintenance Association (MA) defined in the same VLAN and maintenance level. The CFM default MD is automatically created for all VLANs but becomes logically disabled when an explicit MA is configured for that VLAN/level combination. A network operator examines this status to understand the CFM topology and verify that intended MA hierarchies are in place for Ethernet OAM (Operations, Administration, and Maintenance) monitoring.
